One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received about coaching is that first and foremost, we coach people. It is important to remember the human aspect of the game. I coach to pass on knowledge of the game, to be part of a team, and to shape relationships of young athletes - with authority figures, with their peers, and with themselves. I believe that being exposed to character building situations and learning in a “fear of failure”-free environment one can develop a healthy competitiveness. I aim to demonstrate and expect good sportsmanship, to set priorities and goals, and to encourage good decision making both on and off the court.
